In the past 9 years, Yong (YCL) has worked on power systems study, electrical HT and LV design, and power quality monitoring since he graduated from UCSI University and Universiti Tenaga Nasional. He has lead and performed power systems study for large scale Renewable Energy (RE) plants such as solar PV, biomass, biogas, hydro with a combined capacity of at least 3 GW (including overseas projects in Philippines, Bangladesh). He is proficient in both distribution and transmission level power systems in compliance with TNB/SESB/ST regulations and requirements. He is also the joint lead in power quality monitoring and inverter testing for more than 60 projects throughout Malaysia for Feed In-Tariff and Large Scale Solar scheme since 2013.

In addition, YCL has worked under two engineering consultancy firms as an electrical engineer, and has broad experience in the electrical design of various types of developments such as high rise condominiums, universities, international schools, shopping malls, and renewable energy plants. YCL is also a Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Grid Connected Photovoltaic System Design (GCPV) competent person, and has reviewed the DC design of large scale solar PV plants for numerous companies.

Eric is a passionate leader in the renewable energy sector with a strong foundation in electrical engineering. With extensive experience in power systems and electrical design,he boasts a successful track record,including leading studies for over 25 large-scale renewable energy projects, exceeding 900MW of generation capacity,all securing necessary approvals.

Eric’s Experience Extends beyond large-scale projects,encompassing over 45 successful distribution level power system studies across Malaysia. He is a proven expert in utilising industry-leading Power Systems software and possesses a deep understanding Malaysia’s grid system, distribution code, and IEC engineering practices.

Ir. Ismail registered as a professional engineer with the Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM). He is also certified as an 11 kV Electrical Competent Engineer, and 11 kV Service Engineer and registered as an Energy Manager with Suruhanjaya Tenaga Malaysia. Ir. Ismail has several years of experience in electrical engineering work and practices.

He started his career with Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang (PBAPP) as an electrical engineer and performed various electrical upgrades as well as maintenance work with electrical safety practices. Then, he continued as Assistant Manager Production Department at PBAPP, Head of the Facilities Department and Head of the Corporate Affairs Division. He contributed thoughtful ideas and processes to gain an award from KETHHA for being an energy-efficient company. He also completed several electrical supervisions for major pipe and water treatment plant shutdowns as well as supervision and completion of fire alarm/fighting system installation for critical water treatment plant and pump house.

Ir. Ismail is also actively involved in national and international programs such as water operator partnership program WOP for Palembang Water Supply Company and Medan, Indonesia. He is also an expert panel and resource person for the National Occupational Skills Standard (NOSS), Department of Skills Development, Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia.

He is also active in the community and awarded with Pingat Jasa Masyarakat and Pingat Jasa Kebaktian by Tuan Yang Terutama Yang Dipertua Negeri Pulau Pinang.

Ir. Azmi Bin Sulaiman is a Professional Mechanical Engineer with over 25 years of experience in mechanical system design and project management. Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, he has demonstrated expertise in both industrial and commercial mechanical engineering applications.

Beginning his career in production engineering, he transitioned to mechanical consultancy where he developed comprehensive capabilities in system design, cost estimation, and regulatory compliance. His career progression includes senior engineering roles and executive leadership positions, where he has successfully managed multidisciplinary teams and complex technical projects.

Currently serving as Director of ABS Technic Consultant Sdn. Bhd., he provides strategic direction for mechanical engineering projects, overseeing all phases from initial planning to final commissioning. His technical expertise spans mechanical systems design, energy efficiency solutions, and engineering compliance standards.

Throughout his career, he has maintained a strong commitment to professional development and knowledge transfer, mentoring junior engineers while upholding the highest standards of engineering practice in Malaysia.

Dato’ Seri Ir. Ravandaran Somasundram

Dato’ Seri Ir. Ravandaran Somasundram has over two decades of extensive experience in electrical and electronic engineering. He earned his MBA from Golden State University, USA, a B.Eng (Hons) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Sunderland, UK, and a Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the Workers Institute of Technology, Malaysia.

In his current roles, Ravandaran is the Director of XPERIOR SERVICES Pty Ltd, where he has been overseeing engineering design, testing, and commissioning works since 2012. Concurrently, he serves as the CEO and Electrical Service Engineer at GRE CONTRACTING SDN. BHD. Since 2007, managing overall company operations and being registered with The Energy Commission for working voltage up to 275kV. From 2003 to 2012, he was a consultant at GRE ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS SDN BHD, handling high voltage substation design and calibration for various projects.

Previously, Ravandaran held the position of Manager in the Installation & Testing Department at Mahkota Technologies Sdn. Bhd. (2001-2003), managing site supervisors and commissioning engineers. He also served as Assistant Project Manager/Site Manager at ALSTOM Industry Sdn. Bhd. in 2001, where he oversaw site staff and project management. Earlier in his career, he was a Commissioning Engineer (1997-2001) and an Electrical Design Engineer (1994-1997) at Mahkota Technologies Sdn. Bhd., specializing in testing, commissioning, and designing protection and control schemes for high- voltage substations.

Ravandaran is actively involved in conducting training and seminars on protection relays and systems and has attended various international conferences and professional courses. His professional memberships include The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia, ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE), and The Engineering Council, UK, among others. He holds titles such as Chartered Engineer (C.Eng), Competent Electrical Engineer – 500kV, and Electrical Service Engineer – 275kV with the Energy Commission.

He is fluent in English and Malay, has moderate proficiency in Tamil, and basic knowledge of German, which complements his technical expertise and professional experience.
